The Region 2 Leadership Conference Planning Committee seeks to provide the finest conference possible to advance the advocacy skills of our local leaders and members and to enhance the cause of public education. 

Region 2 organizes the largest CTA regional conference with over 600 attendees.  The training provided includes 80 different sessions that require a large training facility.  Therefore, having a first-rate facility is critical to the success of our conference.  Considerations in making our selection include finding a unionized hotel with affordable sleeping rooms (approximately 550) and a facility large enough to house our training needs (a minimum of 20 breakout rooms with the flexibility to fit 30 to 120 members).

We also strive to select facilities that work to improve air quality.  The Grand Sierra Resort has implemented the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act: Anti-Smoking Law and has made numerous upgrades to the property to keep the conference and sleeping rooms smoke-free.

Because of these factors and our need to plan well in advance, we have contracted to hold the conference at the Grand Sierra Resort through 2014.  We sincerely hope this information is helpful in answering your questions about the process of selecting a hotel.  The committee wants to be responsive to member desires, so please don’t hesitate to contact us.
